Holy shit, did it ever get cold. Seriously. My vegetable oil in my pantry froze.  It was so cold I joked about seeing Imperial AT-AT walkers on the way home from work. But you know what’s great on a cold day? Hot cocoa! What’s great for a HORROR fan on a cold day?? BLOOD RED VELVET HOT COCOA!

It’s a recipe I came up with last year, and it is TASTY. And it has that bloody-red colour that will appeal to vampire fans!

3 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder

10 drops to 1 vial of red food colouring
1/4 cup sugar
4 cups milk
1/4 teaspoon vanilla

Before mixing, add the food colouring to the cocoa powder. Mix until it is well blended and a rich red in colour. Mix with rest of ingredients in a pot on the stove, heat until almost boiling.  Serve with marshmallows or whipped cream. Serves 4.

I haven’t done this but you could probably spatter some food colouring on top of the marshmallows or whipped cream for a blood spatter effect.
